LaVar Ball continues to move up in the basketball world. Ball will serve as head coach Sunday for Vytuatas’ game against Jonavos Jonava in the final matchup of the Big Baller Brand Challenge Games. Ball had previously served as assistant coach during Vytuatas’ 147-142 win over BC Dzukija earlier this week. The Big Baller Challenge, which was started as an effort to give LiAngelo and LaMelo more minutes against other teenagers, featured five friendly games, though they do not count in the standings. While Vytautas is 4-0 in the series, the team is 4-16 and in last place in the Lithuanian League as it features bigger competition with older players compared to that of the Big Baller Challenge.

Andre Roberson suffered a ruptured left patellar tendon during the third quarter of Saturday’s win by the Thunder over Detroit. Roberson was taken off the court on a stretcher after his left leg appeared to give out on the receiving end of an alley-oop attempt. He is expected to miss the remainder of the season and will undergo surgery. Thunder coach Billy Donovan said: “He’s certainly a huge loss. Everyone’s been able to see that since he’s kinda come back to us and what he’s been able to do defensively. And he’s found a way to be, offensively, a really effective player for us”.

Isaiah Thomas said he’s taking on an excessive amount of blame for the current struggles of the Cavaliers. Thomas added: “We’ve been a lowest five [rated] defensive team in the NBA the whole time [this season], so when I come back, it’s my fault now. Which, life isn’t fair, but that’s not fair, bro. At all. I just laugh at those things because I know in this circle and this team, everybody believes in each other, and everybody’s in here for it to work and for us to be playing in June. That’s the ultimate goal”. Thomas reportedly led a confrontation of Kevin Love last week during a team meeting. Thomas said of Love: “To be real, I didn’t call him out. I asked him why wasn’t he at the game during the game supporting his teammates. And then after the game, I didn’t [get to] ask him because he wasn’t there. So I was seeing where he was. So I didn’t call him out any. So those reports that whoever is saying that, there’s no bad blood between me and him. We go back to fifth and sixth grade [as AAU teammates]. I asked him a question where he was, and it was never clarified. And that’s all it was. Whoever reported that it was, and we was bashing Kevin Love, there was nothing to bash him about. We just wanted to know where he was and why he didn’t play”.
